What Size Collar Do I Need For My Pet

It is most important that you measure your pet's neck to determine what size collar you need.

Never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, measure an old collar. Each collar company is different. You will never get an accurate "neck size" measuring an old collar. For example, the Leather Dog Collars with Silver bones size 16" collar will fit a neck size of 10-13 inches. When we list the sizing like this, we mean that the tightest hole is at 10" and the very last hole is at 13". The 16" collar is 16 inches from end to end....which has nothing to do with the neck size.

Put a loose measure around your pet's neck, with your 2 fingers (index and middle) flat against the neck INSIDE the measure. Please note...if you do not have a loose tape measure, use a string or ribbon and measure the neck and then measure the string on a ruler or yardstick or hard tape measure or you can borrow ours just download this printable tape measure and follow instructions.

Following these instructions should give you the exact neck size. If you get a 10" measurement for example, based on the type of collar, you will order to allow for adjustment, i.e., choose the size 10-12" to give you a little room for adjustment.

Remember also that the wider the collar, the tighter the fit will be.
